ZAMBIA INTRODUCTION

Victoria Falls, Zambia Tongabezi Lodge Campfire, Zambia

Zambia, a landlocked country located in southern africa, is the place to go for wonderful walking safaris deep into the wilderness. There are many game reserves and wildlife parks which are home to a wide range of mammals and birds including lions, elephants, hippos, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, mongooses, honey badgers, baboons and ostriches. The country, comprising mostly of high plateau with hills and mountains dissected by river valleys, has the largest water reserves of southern africa including 17 waterfalls as well as the impressive Victoria Falls, 5 large lakes and many rivers. The Zambezi River, which flows through the western part of the country, is a fishermans paradise and great for canoeing safaris.

Although the climate is tropical, Zambias altitude creates a more temporate climate. However, the valleys of the Zambezi and Luangwa are much hotter.
