South Africa really does seem to have it all – the game reserves, the wine lands, the historical battle fields, beautiful scenery and beaches and all at bargain prices. There is only a small time difference with the UK and it’s just over half the flying time of Australia.
Where to begin? Many people have visited Africa, and you could perhaps ask your friends and family. Think about the factors; how long you want to go for, anything specific you want to see and how you would like to get about. Many people hire cars but there are coach and minibus tours. If you’re just heading for one area such as Cape Town you could organise transport locally as you need it and for a real treat book on the Blue Train or Rovos Rail.
