Durban Safari - a three-day safari to experience the splendour of KwaZulu Natal. Visit the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in Elandslaagte, a big five bush retreat set in 20,000 acres for a game drive. At SpoinKop Lodge, adjoining a 11,000 acre nature reserve, there is a choice of excursions - a game drive or a battlefields escorted tour, then at Lions River a visit to Ardmore African Ceramics Gallery.

 1000 hours:

 

Depart Rovos Rail's private Capital Park Station.

 1300 hours:

 

Lunch is served in the dining car(s).

 1930 hours:

 

Dinner is served en route to Elandslaagte, near Ladysmith.

 

 

 

 Saturday

 0500 hours:

 

Wake up call for early morning game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve.

 1100 hours:

 

Brunch is served in the dining car(s) as the train travels towards Estcourt.

 1430 hours:

 

Upon arrival there is a choice of excursions:
Option 1 - Game drive in Spionkop Game Reserve
Option 2 - Spionkop battlefields escorted tour.

 1800 hours:

 

Sundowners overlooking the dam and a traditional braaivleis (barbeque) at Spionkop Lodge.

 

 

 

 Sunday

 0700 hours:

 

Breakfast is served as the train descends the escarpment en route to Lions River Station.

 1000 hours:

 

Visit to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery including a dressage display and tea overlooking the Lion River.

 1200 hours:

 

The train departs for Pietermaritzburg.

 1600 hours:

 

Arrive Durban.

 Monday

 

 

 1000 hours:

 

The train departs from Durban Station.

 1300 hours:

 

Lunch is served en route to Lions River Station

 1500 hours:

 

Excursion to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery including a dressage display and tea.

 1930 hours:

 

Dinner is served as the train climbs the escarpment for an overnight stop at Ladysmith.

 

 

 

 Tuesday

 0500 hours:

 

Enjoy a choice of excursions:
Option 1 - Wake up call for an early game drive in the Spionkop Game Reserve
Option 2 - Spionkop battlefields escorted tour.

 1100 hours:

 

Brunch is served in the dining car.

 1500 hours:

 

Arrive Elandslaagte for a game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve.

 1930 hours:

 

Dinner is served in the dining car(s).

 

 

 

 Wednesday

 0700 hours:

 

Breakfast is served as the train traverses the Highveld.

 1300 hours:

 

Lunch is served as the train heads for Centurion where a steam engine will haul the train into Pretoria.

 1600 hours:

 

Arrive at Rovos Rail's Capital Park Station, Pretoria.
